Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Yaper Workspace ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Yaper Workspace is a teacher productivity platform at yaper.io. It provides a connected workspace for language teachers: class management, lesson planning, student context, AI-assisted proposals, and integrations including Canva Connect.

3. Accounts

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
  • Each account is for one individual teacher or an organization (team account). Sharing credentials is not permitted.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to store or transmit illegal, harmful, or abusive content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, the infrastructure, or data belonging to other users.
  • Use automated means to scrape, mine, or bulk-extract data from the Service.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform.
  • Impersonate any person or organization.

Yaper reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. AI-Generated Content

Yaper Workspace uses AI to generate lesson plans, class reports, design briefs, and other teaching content. All AI-generated content is presented as a proposal that requires your explicit review and acceptance before it is saved. You retain full editorial control.

AI proposals reflect the information you provide. They are not a substitute for your professional judgment as a teacher. Yaper does not guarantee the accuracy, appropriateness, or fitness of AI-generated content.

6. Canva Connect Integration

You may optionally connect your Canva account via OAuth to create designs directly from the Service. By connecting Canva, you authorize Yaper to create and manage designs and folders in your Canva account on your behalf, within the OAuth scopes you approved. You can disconnect at any time from Settings, which immediately revokes our access and removes the stored tokens.

Use of the Canva integration is also subject to Canva's Terms of Use.

7. Student Data

Teachers are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from students or their guardians before entering student data into the platform. You represent that you have the right to enter and process any data you upload to Yaper Workspace.

8. Intellectual Property

  • Your content: You retain ownership of all lesson plans, class notes, student records, and other content you create. You grant Yaper a limited license to host, store, and process that content solely to provide the Service.
  • Our platform: All software, design, trademarks, and platform content are owned by Yaper or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of platform IP.

9. Privacy

Use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy.

10. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may perform maintenance, apply updates, or temporarily suspend the Service with or without notice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yaper's liability to you for any claim arising from the use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the three months preceding the claim. Yaper is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. If you close your account, you lose access to the Service and all associated data subject to our retention and deletion policies (see Privacy Policy). Yaper may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, by email. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Yaper is incorporated. Disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before any formal proceedings.
